Janaea Smith is the Development Coordinator for the Futures Foundation where she has been a part of the team for four years. She supports the foundation’s day-to-day operations, organizes distribution of grants, coordinates events including the annual fund raising gala and assists the Executive Director of the foundation.
She worked with MORC Rehab Services prior to joining the Futures Foundation. At MORC, she held several roles over 12 years including as Director and Assistant Administrator. Her responsibilities were wide-ranging – daily operations, liaison with physicians, strategic planning, marketing, training and Privacy Officer. She also has medical support expertise and is a licensed Medical First Responder.
Janaea earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy and her Associate of Arts degree in Health Care from Macomb Community College. Her education, profession and community contributions reflect her desire to help people.
She has been active in numerous community organizations including SCAN-Macomb (Senior Coordinating and Aging Network) member (2008-2015) and Vice Chair (2014-2015), Michigan Safety Conference Healthcare Division member (2014-2018), Four County Community Foundation Trustee (2014-2018), Children’s Hospital of Michigan panel member (2014-2018), EMS Committee member for the community of Almont (2010-Present) and Board Member of the Armada Police Athletic League (1997-2010).
Janaea has had a life-long commitment to serving individuals with developmental disabilities and she finds joy each day in her work at the Futures Foundation.
