Garry G. Carley is the owner of the Heathers Club of Bloomfield Hills, a role he has held since 1998. Prior to this, he was Vice Chairman, Secretary and Director, Standard Federal Bank (now part of Bank of America) an organization in which he was a leader for twenty five years. He also served as Vice Chairman, Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis.
Garry has been and continues to be very involved in community and charitable activities. He is past Chairman of both Detroit Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. and the Corporation for Supportive Housing in Michigan, and past Vice Chairman of the Troy Downtown Development Authority. He is a past member on numerous community boards including Detroit Metropolitan Affairs Coalition, Troy Chamber of Commerce where he was a prior Chairman, Michigan Housing Trust Fund and Michigan League of Community Banks where he was Chairman for three terms.
He is a graduate of Albion College and Wayne State University Law School, and has received distinguished alumni awards from both schools. He practiced law as a Partner at Dykema Gossett and was a Law Professor at Wayne State Law School before his career in the banking industry.
Garry has supported several educational institutions in various roles including as President of the Board of Governors for Wayne State University Law School Alumni Association, Albion College Alumni Board Trustee, and as a member of Walsh College Advisory Council and Academic Programs Committee, Oakland University School of Business Administration Board of Visitors and Wayne State University Law School Committee of Visitors.
He has been a member of the Futures Foundation Board since 2000. He is also currently Vice President and Board Director of the Coleman A. Young Foundation. He is past President and Founding Member of the Community Living Centers Inc., a nonprofit providing residential care facilities for developmentally disabled children. Garry is passionate about helping people with developmental disabilities.
